IPL Photorejuvenation helps you achieve a smoother, more even look.

Also called ‘photofacial’, intense pulsed light (IPL) is a custom rejuvenation treatment that helps to reduce sun damage and redness, and calms the effects of aging. Ideal for the face, neck, arms, hands and legs, you’ll see results in just 4-7 days.

    How does IPL treatment work?

This non-invasive procedure uses a powerful flash of filtered light to penetrate the skin, where it’s absorbed by excess pigment. Within 4-7 days, those pigmented spots will temporarily darken and peel off to reveal a smoother, more even skin tone.

While photorejuvenation is usually performed on the face and upper chest to reduce sun spots and dilated blood vessels, combination therapy using  IPL and dermal filler  on the hands can enhance the antiaging results.

Photofacial treatments don’t require an anesthetic–but as a safety measure, our e-Light IPL system cools the skin’s surface to keep you comfortable. The procedure takes 30-45 minutes with little or no downtime, which means you can come in during your lunch break or before any other regular activity.

You may experience some mild redness immediately after treatment and some minor swelling under the eyes the next morning. Any brown areas will appear darker over the next few days, so wait until your skin sheds them before expecting results.

It only takes 1-2 treatments to reduce spots, smooth uneven pigmentation, and help repair broken facial capillaries and veins. Additional treatments will continue to improve tone and texture, and stimulate the dermis to produce more collagen.

The ideal number of treatments depends on the patient, but most people require 2-5 sessions for optimal results.

    Types of IPL

At Pacific Derm, we use the advanced, medical-grade e-Light photorejuvenation system, which combines two independent types of energy (pulsed light and radio frequency, or RF) and applies them to the skin simultaneously.

By adding RF energy, we achieve deeper penetration and more controlled stimulation and regeneration of three layers of skin, including collagen. The e-Light uses less energy than other methods to infiltrate the skin tissue, which greatly reduces the risk of overheating the skin.
