LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

The struggle to get rid of unwanted ink with very painful, expensive or invasive tattoo removal methods is over. Pacific Dermaesthetics utilizes safe and effective laser tattoo removal techniques in Vancouver—helping patients painlessly get rid of tattoos.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

Lasers are the safest and most effective way to remove tattoos. We use a laser that is considered one of the ‘gold standards' for laser tattoo removal: the Medlite C6 laser . This advanced laser’s energy is delivered in nanosecond bursts (billionths of a second), making it very effective at breaking up tattoo ink. In slower lasers (millionths of a second) energy can create heat in the surrounding tissue, burning or scarring the tissue. Some of the black ink can also become trapped in the tissue leaving lasting marks.

Your tattoo ink can be thought of as big stones of colour under your skin. These ink ‘stones' are too big for the body to remove on its own. But the laser’s nanosecond pulse of energy breaks up these stones, shattering them into fragments small enough for the body to surround and cart away.

The Painless Tattoo Removal Part

Depending upon the size of the tattoo, we freeze the skin with a local injection or topical anesthetic prioir to the procedure. Many people don't even need an anesthetic. If the tattoo is large, we'll also utilize a cold air-blowing machine to further minimize discomfort. Clients may also take Tylenol an hour before treatment to make the tattoo removal even more painless.

Laser Tattoo Removal Results

Some tattoos will never be completely eliminated because of specific factors. The success of laser tattoo removal depends on:
  • Tattoo size
  • Ink colour
  • Depth of ink in the skin
  • Age of the tattoo
  • Skin colour
  • Tattoo artist’s skill level (professional vs amateur)

Note that if there is already an existing ridged scar on the skin from the tattoo process, that scar will remain after the ink has been eliminated.

Most treatments only take minutes, but multiple sessions are required at six to eight week intervals to allow for complete pigment residue absorption by the body. The number of laser tattoo removal sessions needed usually varies from four to 15 treatments. After each session, most tattoo inks will fade gradually over a period of approximately six to eight weeks.

The Pacific Dermaesthetics team has many years of laser tattoo removal experience in Vancouver, working with advanced state-of-the-art lasers such as the Medlite C6 on a daily basis.
