ARTESENSE
The combination of three key ingredients into one injectable implant, Artsense enhances the shape of the lips, reduces wrinkles and smile lines, and fills in acne scars with microscopic polymethyl methacrylate beads that are folded into just enough collagen to carry them through a fine needle. A trace of anesthetic, lidocaine, is added to the solution to dull any discomfort during injection.
This permanent filler works by stimulating the growth of natural collagen, a vital skin protein lost over time. It is injected into the desired area, with one to three treatments required, each lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. Over time (three to four months) the body builds collagen around the PMMA microspheres. The results can last from seven to ten years.
Artesense is the next generation of what was previously known as Artecoll. Artecoll/Artesense has been used for tissue augmentation since 1989. PMMA is an inert and totally biocompatible substance and was first medically used as an implant in 1936. Since Artesense is regarded as a permanent implant, this procedure should only be carried out by a skilled injector. Both Dr.s Rivers and McGillivray have extensive experience with Artesense/Artecoll and will determine in your individual consultation what is best for you.
